Leah has been involved in the background checking industry since 2001 and brings extensive experience and product knowledge to HireRight and PeopleCheck where she oversees our Australian Sales & Compliance Team.

From a Sales perspective, Leah and her team collaborate with our new clients by providing information on PeopleCheck’s services and exploring how we can best support the specific needs of organisations looking for a background checking provider. The team also manages PeopleCheck’s external compliance to ensure PeopleCheck (and in turn its clients, new and existing) stay abreast of legislative or other relevant developments/trends and adapt our background checking services accordingly.

Using her extensive background checking industry experience as a foundation, Leah works with our clients to provide recommendations both at early stages and throughout an engagement as to how to address their background checking requirements, including: product considerations; best practice; budget; industry guidelines; IT specifications; culture; compliance environment; internal policy and operational impacts. In the initial stages and once they have a sound understanding of a client’s requirements, Leah and her team works closely with PeopleCheck’s internal teams to ensure these customisations are reflected in a service that can be seamlessly integrated into existing processes. The implementation phase sees Leah and her team coordinating client contracts, providing guidance, organising training for the client and overseeing account activation.

Leah’s involvement with our clients extends throughout their journey with PeopleCheck and HireRight Australia. In a constantly evolving industry, Leah and her team work to ensure ongoing compliance and relevance of a background checking program, including aspects such as: vendor management; research for development of new products or enhancements to existing products; incorporating relevant legislative developments into our service, and ensuring these are communicated with our clients.

Throughout her career, Leah has been involved in the provision of background checking services to clients across many industries, both in Australia and abroad. Leah’s involvement has varied from undertaking background checking to training staff; from researching background checking developments to implementing new client engagements; from managing a team of background checking professionals to assisting clients with developing customised methodologies.

Leah commenced her career as part of the Pre-Employment Screening team at PricewaterhouseCoopers. As part of her role, Leah developed a thorough understanding of the “nuts and bolts” of background checking and in training other team members in sound practices. Leah’s built on this experience by specialising in the provision and management of background checking in the Asia-Pacific region, including involvement in various client engagements with an international flavour.

In her subsequent role as Manager of International Operations at RISQ Group (now Sterling RISQ), Leah managed the operations of a large team of background checking professionals based in the Newcastle area, where she was focussed on meeting individual client needs through smooth implementation and operational efficiencies.

Leah’s experience in the background checking industry and extensive product knowledge supports PeopleCheck’s commitment to be the premier provider of background checking in Australia, and to provide the local Australian expertise for our US-based parent company HireRight. By remaining abreast of industry developments, updated as to legislative and product changes, connected with her wide network of contacts and responsive to client demands, Leah is a key player in ensuring that PeopleCheck continues to provide an exceptional background checking service.
