A Melbourne man will stand trial after allegedly faking qualifications as a psychologist so that he could defraud more than $1 million out of the Victorian WorkCover Authority and Transport Accident Commission.
Dusan Milosevic forged qualifications from the University of Belgrade in order to register as a psychologist in Victoria. He is now being charged with 357 counts of obtaining property or financial advantage by deception and attempting to obtain property or financial advantage by deception.
This case is a classic example of the “porkie” that is more common than people think – the fake qualification. Diploma mills are more prevalent than ever and a piece of paper is easy to manufacture! As this case highlights, a fake qualification that is not verified can go on to provide the perpetrator with a perfect opportunity to take their deception to the next level!
