A recent background check for one of PeopleCheck’s financial services clients Identified a candidate was convicted of the offence “Obtain Financial Advantage”. The candidate was to be employed in a payroll position and the employment offer was withdrawn.
Another example involving one of PeopleCheck’s utility clients revealed a candidate had several convictions for “Use/Make false instrument with intent” and “Obtain money by deception”. The candidate was employed in a procurement role. In this instance and after numerous discussions with the candidate about the circumstances surrounding the offences, the client decided to maintain the candidate’s employment.
These cases highlight how important Police Checks are as part of the background checking process and how these checks can reveal offences that are directly related to the role the candidate is to be employed in.
